The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Just listen to classics like Trout Mask Replica, Double Nickles On The Dime, Lake, Twin Infinitives, Harsh 70's Reality....well, Factums have thrown their hat into the proverbial ring with Gilding The Lilies. This mythic release has been rumored and debated for some time and to say this is their crowing achievement is an understatement. Factums have been shrouded in mystery, rarely playing live -- this hermetic Seattle/Chicago combo have been releasing rustic/futuristic artifacts for a variety of labels over the last few years. On Gilding The Lilies, all the ideas come together: sci-fi surf rock, post-apocalyptic murder ballads, musique concrète anthems, hell, on Gilding The Lilies they even dedicate the latter half of this masterpiece to Far Eastern exotica and incorporate sitars and tablas. Yeah, this ain't no Beatles trip, it's a Factums take on their inner chakra or pith helmet exploitation or whatever the kids are calling it these days. Limited one-time pressing of 700 copies.

Copies are available through:
forcedexposure.com

Assophon 005 LP Simon Henneman- Black Magic and Moustache

Seattle-based Simon Henneman's first solo vinyl release is here. That LP gave the lucky few who procured a copy an idea of the talents of that great band. Here, Mr. Henneman strikes out on his own and creates a solo journey of a much more intimate palette. Playing every instrument on the record (guitars, bass, saxophones, clarinet, percussion, keys), Mr. Henneman evokes a mood and mystery unmatched. From the ethno jazz/noir played in a Turkish harem vibe to the soundtrack for flipping through a Raymond Carver novella illustrated by Raymond Pettibon, this LP slithers into the subconscious and throws you against a back alley wall to seduce you into making a real bad decision seem OK! He was a key fixture in the fertile Phoenix AZ scene of the early 80s (that included such luminaries as the Meat Puppets, Sun City Girls, Maybe Mental, Feederz, JFA etc...) Immortal God’s was the first release on his Pan Records label ( his 2nd LP, Philosopher’s Journey would be the only other). Both records were privately released in miniscule editions , are now and have been rather difficult to obtain for many years, ensuring them as holy grails for collectors of the exotic, cult, folk, beat, punk, outsider rock musical canon....Immortal Gods was recorded and released in 1982. It features Alan Bishop and Charles Gocher (Sun City Girls), Dan and Mary Clark (Feederz/Victory Acres), Jesse Srgoncik (aka James Verlaine aka J. Akkari from Paris 1942... a band that featured the Velvet Underground’s drummer Moe Tucker as well as Rick and Alan Bishop), and Brandon and Audrey Curtis backing Eddy and his African, voodoo, Hitchcock musical vision. It is a timeless masterpiece. The LP Jacket cover is quite possibly the apex in outsider photography and demented vision. It features Eddy and a lady friend (a woman he picked up for the cover shot because she had the bone structure he was looking for) on horseback with Eddy holding his head in his outstretched hand. A perfect image for the music contained within. Assophon Records is proud to present this album in its original format for the current generation to tango with.

contact
bashosings@yahoo.com

single copies are
$15 PPD USA
$20 PPD Canada/Mexico
$25 PPD International

paypal to
bashosings@yahoo.com

Wholesale orders, please contact
fe@forcedexposure.com

Welcome to Assophon Records. There are inspired covers of material like “It’s A Rainy Day” by Faust and Albert Ayler’s “Ghosts” (which wins out over countless lame indie free jazz versions by re-staging it as a melancholy avant rock dirge as played by Don Van Vliet and the Maher Shalal Has Baz orchestra) and the more rocking sections are a near perfect amalgam of primitive avant brut, stumble punk oblivion and beautiful melodic chord solos. Wally Shoup is a legend in the free jazz/improv scene. He has been well documented over the years, releasing records with Thurston Moore, Chris Corsano, Paul Flathery, Nels Cline, Bill Horist and many others in various combos. Jeffery Taylor and Dave Abramson are key players in the ever incestuous Seattle subunderground musical community. Taylor is one half of Climax Golden Twins and Abramson leads the Diminished Men. This LP is a live document that blew all the minds in attendance. Take your BYG/FMP/ESP/ SUN/ America/AKBA imprints and the sounds they represented and you’ll have an idea of the force and power of this amazing trio. This is some of the finest free jazz of the modern era!

ASSO-003 LP
Factums- Future Primitive OST
ed. of 500 copies---Sold out

Primitive Future indeed! Its 4000 a.d. and human kind’s fate from a binge of manifest destiny has finally collapsed on itself. Now we’re back to the basics. The jungle is in charge again. The Factums have crafted a soundtrack to this dark and mysterious place. A world where the listener is the prey and this record is the hunter. This is exploratory music, a melding of rusted out kraut debris, dead c. carnage and lost in time sci-fi rock moves.

"Factums have preciously cut some major art-damaged rock moves for the Siltbreeze label. A Primitive Future is intended as a soundtrack to an imaginary movie and it’s a totally beguiling and mysterious spin. The sound is dense, claustrophobic, Xeroxed rock, taking the more extended strategies of the weirdest Dead C sides and compacting them into blunt riffs and sunken vox that feel like some of the most primordial, defiantly monochrome psychedelia this side of nowhere. There are a bunch of long tracks, all convincing monosyllabic traverses of the nowhere zone, cut up with shorter tracks that use amp-huzz, keyboard bleeps, pinging strings and percussion to generate minimal, almost Sun Ra-styled, instrumental fantasias but the whole thing is so oblique, so perfectly unto itself, that it’s hard to find any truly accurate comparisons outside of suggesting that if you dig the sound of the 90s underground and you like it as distended and alien as all hell then this is the kind of environment you’ll enjoy sinking to the bottom of. A weird-ass one for sure and recommended."
